With the 2015 Women’s World Cup in full swing, it’s time to examine some of the stars both on and off the football pitch. From talented strikers to lock down defenders, the women of this World Cup will have you singing “Run The World (Girls)” by Beyoncé from every rooftop between here and Vancouver.
1. Alex Morgan
Alex Morgan was expected to be a star from an early age. Growing up in Diamond Bar, CA, Alex received her first professional training through the Olympic Development Program, playing on regional as well as state teams. So far, Alex has met the high expectations set upon her by team USA. In the 2012 Olympics, she led the ladies to a gold medal over Japan via a clutch, late game assist to teammate Carli Lloyd. Morgan is currently a member of Portland Thorns FC in the National Women’s Soccer League and is their points leader.
